Get Involved & Schedule

Public involvement and input are essential to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process. There are designated phases of the EIS process when members of the public can provide comments. Concurrent with the NEPA process, the Air Force is conducting required public involvement for National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 consultation for the potential effects on historic properties.

On July 11, 2025, the Air Force initiated scoping by publishing a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register. The Public Scoping Period is the first of two opportunities for public input in the EIS process. The Air Force is hosting several in-person open-house style public meetings during the public scoping period to provide information to interested parties. Materials available at those meetings can be found on the Documents page of this website. The public’s input during scoping will be considered in the development of the Draft EIS.

After scoping, a Notice of Availability of the Draft EIS will be published in the Federal Register starting the public review and comment period. The Draft EIS Public Review and Comment Period is the second opportunity for public input during the NEPA process. The Draft EIS will be posted on this website and available at local libraries. Public Hearings will be held to solicit comments on the analyses presented in the Draft EIS. After this comment period the Final EIS will be made available on the project website and in local libraries, initiating the 30-day waiting period. After the waiting period, the Record of Decision will be published and available on this website.

The Air Force is hosting three Virtual Public Meetings and several in-person public meetings during the scoping period to provide information to interested parties and to solicit comments from the public on the proposed action and alternatives. Please attend a meeting to meet with Air Force representatives and ask questions. If you do not wish to attend a meeting in person you may participate in one of the virtual meetings. The deadline to submit comments is September 9, 2025. Click here for information on submitting comments.
