The Air Force announced its intention to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of improving day-to-day training and increasing the capability of LFEs hosted at PRTC. The Notice of Intent was published in the Federal Register on July 11, 2025.

The scoping period has begun. The Air Force is soliciting comments on the Proposed Action and the preliminary alternatives. Comments can be made at public meetings, submitted online, or by mailing to: PRTC Airspace EIS, c/o Stantec, 501 Butler Farm Rd., Suite H, Hampton, VA 23666. To ensure full consideration of all comments in preparing the Draft EIS, comments should be submitted by September 9, 2025.
